Early May Flowerbeds: Front

So much in bloom, I had to do another flowerbed tour, even though I just finished the last one about 10 days ago! 

 

Top Terrace:

I didn't expect it to bloom this year.

 

Middle Terrace:

 

tulips, hyacinths, and daffodils

Sem False Spirea

I am loving this shrub!

The multi-colored foliage really brightens up this shady corner, and the fine texture is a great contrast to the spring bulbs' strappy leaves nearby.

 

Bottom terrace:

 



 In the bottom corner, grape hyacinths, iris foliage, and laurel provide a pleasing contrast.

Beauty to Come

What makes a flower bud beautiful?

 

It could be the slim stripe of pink on this one.

 

 Or the way these three nestle into the center of a foliage star.

 



Or the striking contast of fiery red and cool green.

 

And yet, with a flower bud, there is more than that.

There is the beauty of potential, of good things to come; all wrapped up tight, for now, in a gilded package.

Little drops of loveliness, reminding us that soon will there will be beauty enough to fill our hands and spill over.

If only we can capture it.
