It's a little hard to see in this shot, but it's not just the handle that snapped off here. The blade of the spade itself snapped right across the bottom during my tulip-hole digging extravaganza on the slope. I knew it was taking some pressure, but I thought it could handle it. [HA! Pun intended.] Obviously, I was wrong.
Luckily, my backup spade finished the job without incident.
