We're due for an update on the flowerpot status.
These give me a little shot of "happy" every time I see them--which is often, as they are at both entrances to my home.
#1: Round Blue
I could have sworn I had only 2 colors (the purples) planted in here.
Not that I mind the pink.
They are spilling over and I'm loving it!
#2: Big Green
More petunias going for broke.
The mix between them and the verbena: luscious.
The tall dianthus no longer look so tall with everything else billowing up, but it is still fun to see those little pink faces popping up here and there.
#3: Blue Boat
#3 again
Hello, photobomber child!
The sedums in front and back are holding their own, but are soon to be hidden by the petunia extravaganza.
#4: Tall Blue
Respectable.
Not as filled in as the rest, but still easy on the eyes.
I'm liking the carnations, just wish they would fill in a bit more.
Lobelia just got sheared back, so it's pretty much non-existent in this shot.
Overall, I'm still liking these far better than last year's attempts.
I love petunias, what can I say?
Fun containers! Someday I'm going to have energy to devote to fun annual container creations. Here is my reply to your comment, since I don't know if you'll make it back to my blog to see it: Linnae, I'm happy you enjoyed the flower beds! The annuals are starting to fill in, though some spots still need more water to look really good. Watering is always a challenge there. And weeding, of course. Lots of thorns and thistles . . . anyway Marilyn is the landscaping director and queen of people organization. I organize the plants, she organizes the hundreds of volunteers each year. She has it set up so all the stakes in the temple district have a couple of weeks where they're invited to help. There are sometimes hiccups getting the info to the wards, though. But your ward should get an invitation to volunteer at least once a year. We have work groups on Mon/Wed/Fri most of the time. I'll be there tomorrow from 10-12 with a crew. Ask your 2nd counselor to tell you when he hears the invite - I think the 2nd couselor in the stake pres is supposed to contact the 2nd counselor in the bishopric to make the announcement.
ReplyDeleteI love your containers - the blue boat is especially fun. And your petunias are spectacular. Is the verbena hardy in your area? "Homestead Purple" is a bit overused here but it's so pretty and blooms so long I can understand why.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Containers are still kind of hit or miss for me, so I've been pleased that they're looking good this year. The verbena is an annual here. The butterflies love it!
